Sligo Youth Theatre is a community voluntary group and a registered charity, which does not trade for profit. While members are asked to contribute a fee of €50.00 per term, (with 2 terms per 10 month year, this amounts to a cost of approx €2.50 per workshop), this is waived in the case of family hardship and at the discretion of the director. A reduction is offered for siblings and there is no extra costs when children are involved in shows and productions. We operate subsidised outings to plays and shows, in conjunction with local theatres and Youth Theatre Ireland.
As a limited company, we are governed by a voluntary board of directors from many different walks of life and we comply with all the requirements of the Companies Office and Charites Regulatorary Authority.
The Chairwoman of Sligo Youth Theatre is Amy O'Hara.
Directors are: Lorraine Fitzgerald (Treasurer), Nial Colleary, Paul Cunnigham, Terri Gallagher, John Carty and Amy O'Hara (Secretary).
We are affiliated to Youth Theatre Ireland and we avail of all training, Garda Vetting, and resources which this governing body provides.
We are grateful for our continued funding by Sligo County Council and by the Arts Council of Ireland. Thanks also to the Sligo Arts Services, who have always given unwavering support and good advices. The Youth Theatre is proud to continue to foster creativity, self empowerment and a sense of fun in its members.
